There were some people who actually thought that a constitutional right was being taken away after the Dobbs decision. But there isn’t any part of the constitution that says that one can get an abortion. It isn’t in there. There was not an amendment that says that. There is no way that the original constitution would have covered that. People can yammer on about the right to privacy, but that does not cover the right to an abortion. How could it? And isn’t the right to life more important than the right of privacy? There are plenty of terrible reasons to get abortions and saying that it is a constitutional right is both inaccurate and wrong. Just because the Supreme Court says something does not magically make it law. The opposite is true. They can say that laws don’t have any constitutional merit to them at all. That’s what Dobbs did.
